Documentary Photography

About My Work

Now retired from professional photography, I continue to explore visual storytelling through a range of short- and long-term photographic projects. My work is rooted in a documentary approach, focusing on genuine moments that reveal the character of people, places, and communities.

Working mainly in black and white, and occasionally in colour, I create photographs that emphasise honesty, texture, and atmosphere. Observation rather than direction remains central to my practice, allowing stories and connections to unfold naturally and develop into engaging photographic narratives.

My projects often explore themes of community, heritage, identity, and social change. I have worked with organisations, charities, businesses, and community groups to document people and places with sensitivity and integrity, creating lasting visual records that reflect their true character.

Through both personal and collaborative work, I continue to produce thoughtful photographic stories that celebrate communities, preserve local histories, and encourage a deeper understanding of the lives and experiences they portray.

Community Storytelling

I am passionate about documenting communities and the stories that shape them through a thoughtful documentary approach. Focusing on candid, unposed moments, my photography captures the character, spirit, and everyday realities of the people and places I encounter.

Working primarily in black and white, and occasionally in colour, I create images that celebrate authenticity, atmosphere, and connection. By paying attention to the quiet details that others may overlook, I build visual narratives that reflect the unique identity of each community.

Through both short- and long-term photographic projects, I aim to create meaningful and enduring records that encourage understanding, preserve local histories, and foster a genuine connection between subjects and viewers. My work seeks to tell community stories with honesty, sensitivity, and lasting impact.
